Staff Members
The AAAOM MS Clinic is comprised of several practicing third and fourth year student interns and two Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who serve as advisors. Students must apply and be accepted as an intern in the MS Clinic. These interns receive additional needling training specific to the management and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis symptoms.
AAAOM MS Clinic Advisors:
Dr. Brian Grosam graduated from the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He moved to China with his wife and two sons to pursue his Ph.D. in Chinese medicine at Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed his Ph.D. research and dissertation on the effects of acupuncture on perimenopausal symptoms in 2009. Returning to the U.S., Dr. Grosam opened Sun Acupuncture in Hopkins, MN. He is a Licensed Acupuncturist under the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, and is an instructor at AAAOM and the Clinic Director of the AAAOM Faculty and Student Clinic.
Dr. Yifan Liu graduated from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. He attended Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and received his Ph.D. in acupuncture. Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. training under the guidance of Professor Shi, Xuemin, a recognized expert in acupuncture. Dr. Liu returned to Shandong University to pursue his post-doctoral degree. Dr. Liu has contributed extensive publications in acupuncture mechanism research, clinical observations and experimental research. He served as Chief Director and Associate Professor in the Acupuncture & Moxibustion Department at the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of TCM. He has written several textbooks which are used in Chinese medical schools in China.
